Kim to 10k | It’s here

Race day is three days away… I’m excited! I have put consistent effort into training for this race and I feel well prepared. Out of all my running experiences, I have enjoyed this tremendously. I have been lucky and steered clear of chin splints and most runner aches and pains. I’m anxious to get of there and run.

My goal time is 63:30-64:30! However.. If I finish without walking ( walking is not an option unless I’m injured badly) I will be just as satisfied!

This week I am preparing by short runs, trying to get good sleep, a decent diet, no alcohol and lots of water! I drink about 2L of water a day anyhow. I will eat a small pasta dish friday – however from what I understand carbo-loading doesn’t do much unless your running 10+ miles (not my expertise, yet)

I will continue running after this race. December is just right around the corner and I have officially signed up for the OUC half marathon! 13.1 here I come … I am only HALF crazy, right ?

Happy Hump Day 😉

Weekend Wrap-Up (in pictures)

Somebody was tired !

After breakfast, I was lucky and got some sweet cuddle time.

Did our ‘9-month’ photo shoot, even though it’s a week late. I will post update this week.

And I made …
French toast cupcakes with a cinnamon strudel topped with a maple buttercream … I ll share how they turned out soon 😉

Happy Sunday !

Funny me …

You can ask most of my family, that I have (in the past) made up my own words. Wether it’s random words in a sentence or lyrics to a song, someone was ways giggling.

I will admit that I do still make
Up song lyrics ( and so do you – don’t lie). There is one that really gets me….

Taylor Swift – Blank Space

I once got caught by my gf singing and she laughed while correcting me.

MY version … “Gets along with all the star bucks lovers”

Yeh .. BIG NO on that one.

The REAL song is … ‘Got a long list of ex-lovers’

It makes me giggle every time I hear it play. Even my friends text me when thy hear the song making comments about how it REALLY does sound like Starbucks lovers 😉

Just thought I would treat you to a little laugh !

Happy Friday

Samantha | Three Months

This munchkin is growing like a weed and a lot of exciting milestones have happened this month.

Samantha has been smiling ALOT.
It’s the cutest. thing. ever. Just when you expect a little giggle to come out she just keeps smiling and smiling and smiling.

When doing tummy time she makes her way to her back by doing a sideways push up forcing a roll over. We are no where close to rolling back on to the stomach, ha!

She almost has full head control but still slight droopy. We started using her bumbo seat allowing her to sit up. She definitely prefers to be upright vs laying down.

She has discovered her hands. She plays a lot with her hands, feels different things and puts them in her mouth.

She follows things with her eyes ( left, right, up and down). Textures and patterns catch her interest. The little mice on her feet kept her occupied and couldn’t get a better picture for her three month shoot (see above).

The girl drools more than a Blood Hound and a St. Bernard combined ( kidding, kidding ). Is she teething already!?

She got her first necklace (unpolished raw amber), specifically for teething reasons…but it’s a little to big and I’m not risking my baby girl choking herself or on them. We will wait.

Mommy gave baby her first boo-boo by cutting her nail…but not her nail. Ekk, pDon’t judge.

Baby girl went swimming and didn’t cry! Wah-hoo

Enjoyed her first Fourth of July and slept right under the fireworks, didn’t budge once.

She wears 0-3 and 3 months cloths.
Size 1-2 diapers.
Loves to be swaddled at night.
Drinks 5 oz about every three hours.

….and just when you thought those smiles would lead to a giggle THEY DID. Baby giggles are so fun and adorable.

Love being a mom to this 3 month old

Oreo Delight

I know you have been sitting staring at your email waiting for my food post this week…ha! I wish. Sorry I am a bit late with the start of these recipes however my household ate some rotten chicken (we think) and have had sour stomachs all week. I am feeling a bit better but can’t vouch for everyone else.

This dessert was good but not my favorite. I like nice hearty thick desserts and this was light, fluffy and a perfect amount of sweetness.

1 pkg regular Oreo cookies
3/4 stick of butter, melted
2 – 8 oz containers of Cool Whip
1 – 8 oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup confectioners/powdered sugar
1 large (5.9-ounce) pkg chocolate instant pudding
2 3/4 cup milk

1-Crush entire bag of Oreo cookies ( I used a food processor because it was easier to get the pieces smaller). Reserve 1 cup of Oreo crumbs and mix remaining crumbs with melted butter.

2-Press Oreo crumbs/butter mixture into bottom of 9X13 pan to form a crust and chill while preparing below. (for real though – it’s a lot of butter. I thought I ruined the recipe but after counting and recounting the amount of butter I melted, it was right)

3- Using a mixer, mix 1 container of Cool Whip, softened cream cheese, and confectioners sugar in a large bowl. Spread the mixture on top of the packed crumbs.

4- Mix the pudding and milk. Allow to set. Spread the pudding over the previous layer.

5- Spread the other container of Cool Whip on top.

6-Top with reserved Oreo crumbs. Chill and enjoy!

Today was my first day back to work. It was also Samantha’s first day at daycare (I like to call it school – just makes me feel better). I started getting questioned by friends and family last week about how I was feeling about going back to work and having someone else take care of Sam. Reality for me, even at the beginning of pregnancy, was for me to be a working mom. Never was it discussed for me to being a stay at home mom, and part of that was a decision on my own. When I replied to people asking me about my feelings, I got some puzzling responses. I was ready to get back to work. Of course, there is nothing better than snuggling and being close to my baby however, I wanted to get my family into a ‘routine’ where we could get on with our lives, make sense? I also was getting stir crazy sitting around the house the last week or two.

So how did it go?

My first day back working was great. I started fresh at a new job which I found to be awesome. I am hoping it stays that way. The office I am working at is all kiddos and is very busy. The staff is young and seems very friendly (complete opposite of my last job). The dentist is easy going and fun.

Samantha also had a great day according to the instructors (is that what they are called)? She rarely cried, ate when she wanted, did her business when she wanted and supplied lots of smiles for everyone to awe over. I let Don drop her off so I could focus on getting to my new job. I didn’t cry at all. During the few moments I had today, I did get a little anxious but I had new stuff to learn to ease my mind of that.

Today it was back to reality. Today was GREAT, better than I expected ! …. but I am tired !
